Wildcats bit by the injury bug
In the UA basketball team's first scrimmage since being named the No. 1 team in the nation, it lost two of its top players to injuries.
However, neither senior forward Luke Walton nor sophomore shooting guard Salim Stoudamire is expected to miss much time.
Walton dislocated his pinkie on his left non-shooting hand late in the second half and Stoudamire "tweaked" his already sore left ankle early in the first half. Walton will have X-rays today as a precautionary measure, but trainer Justin Kokoskie said he doesn't expect him to miss anytime. Stoudamire is day-to-day, according to head coach Lute Olson.

Game Notes
Different season, similar outcome
Anyone who chose to watch the Arizona and Oregon State tape delay yesterday might have been a little confused.
At first glace, it might have appeared that you were watching the Beavers' and Wildcats' 2001 game at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Ore., in which the Wildcats fell 38-3. The Wildcats were dominated from start to finish, and senior quarterback Jason Johnson even said that last season's loss to the Beavers was the low point of the year.

Glass sparks comeback win
The Arizona volleyball team was one game away from a weekend that could have been disastrous.
But UA pulled off an amazing comeback against No. 17 Washington State to salvage the weekend with a split against the Washington schools.
"Hopefully, this will give us a shot of adrenaline, and I think this match will help us play even better the rest of the season," head coach David Rubio said.
Entering the weekend, the Wildcats had won five of their last six matches, and it looked as though they were beginning to become the team that Rubio envisioned at the beginning of the season.

Soccer seniors end careers with upset
Records, seniors and an upset were all in the mix this weekend for the Arizona soccer team.
Under the lights Friday, the Wildcats (6-10-1, 1-6-0 Pacific 10 Conference) played host to No. 20 Washington (8-6-3, 3-2-1 Pac-10), led by goalkeeper Hope Solo, a member of the U.S. National Team.
On Sunday, Washington State (10-5-2, 4-1-2 Pac-10) wore down UA with a 4-2 loss.
On Friday night, Arizona fought back from a 1-0 deficit to take the Huskies into two overtimes, where the Wildcats would seal the victory. It seemed that no one thought they could do it except for them.

Icecats split home set against Weber State and Utah State
Some say that a team learns more after a loss than a win. That theory held true Saturday night, when the Icecats ended their weekend series the way they would have liked to start it ÷ with a 12-3 romp over Utah State.
The win came on the heels of a 4-3 overtime defeat to Weber State on Friday night at the Tucson Convention Center.
"We just didn't get the performance we needed (on Friday)," UA head coach Leo Golembiewski said. "We made some adjustments between games, a few of them psychological, and were able to come back strong in the second game."
