Barry, Grace make NFL rosters after not being taken in draft
Both Kevin Barry and Steven Grace made the opening day rosters of the Green Bay Packers and the Arizona Cardinals after not getting drafted in June's NFL draft.
It was the first time since 1984 that no Wildcat was taken in the NFL draft.
Barry will add depth to an already solid Packer offensive front. The Racine, Wisc., native is one of three undrafted Packer free-agents to make the roster.
Barry has a two-year contract and a minimum base salary of $225,000 this year. His signing bonus was for $7,500.
Grace played a vital role for the Wildcats in 2001.
He switched from center to guard in the middle of the season.
Former UA pitcher Diggins roughed up in MLB debut
Former UA pitcher and current Milwaukee Brewer Ben Diggins allowed eight runs, seven of them earned in his Major League debut yesterday against the Chicago Cubs in the second game of a double-header.
The right-hander walked six of the 14 batters he faced in just 1 1/3 innings.
Diggins was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2000 and spent two years in their system before being traded to the Brewers in July.
The Brewers acquired the 23-year-old right-hander from the Dodgers in a deal involving Tyler Houston.
Diggins was 6-10 with a 3.63 ERA in 20 games with Class-A Vero Beach (Dodgers), including 19 starts.
