The old saying is that ideas look better on paper than in action.
Well, in the case of a newspaper, sometimes ideas sound better before they're on paper. Such was the case with the page two Campus section of the Wildcat this semester.
Some longstanding features made way for changes in content and design, and readers spoke out. There were some productive changes, like an online reader poll and an expanded "Datebook" of campus events for the day.
But readers missed the daily "Fast Facts" section. Well, today it's back. And "Fast Facts" will return every day of the week for the rest of this semester.
In addition, a once-a-week, expanded "Flashback" section that takes a step back in time to show you the notable events from that week in history will premiere on Monday and run every Monday for the rest of the semester. "Collegiate Cocktail" (a rundown of quirky national college newspaper briefs) will be featured on Wednesdays, and "Word up," which debuted last Friday and appears today, will be a once-a-week roundup of interesting quotes.
"People and Places", which will strive to include more student, faculty and staff achievements, will run every Tuesday and Thursday
in the Wildcat. Suggestions for this feature should be sent to Keren G. Raz, campus editor for the Wildcat. She can be contacted at campus@wildcat.arizona.edu.
And watch out, because news editor Rebekah Kleinman is still on the loose asking zany questions for "On the spot."
The purpose of this page is to serve as a "news you can use section." So, let us know how you like it.
We're always open to ideas ÷ and criticisms.
