UA women's basketball player Shawntinice Polk has been named to the six-member Kodak/Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-Region 8 Team.
The honor now makes the sophomore center a finalist for the Kodak/WBCA All-America Team. Polk was an honorable mention Kodak/WBCA All-American as a freshman last season.
Polk is joined on the All-Region 8 Team by fellow Pac-10 student-athletes Ebony Hoffman (USC), Giuliana Mendiola (Washington) and Nicole Powell (Stanford). Emily Faurholt (Idaho) and Kristen Mann (UC Santa Barbara) are on the team as well.
Averaging 16.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game this season, Polk has already eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in her UA career, becoming the fastest player in Wildcat history to do so (60 games). She is also Arizona's all-time blocks leader.
The NCAA Division I Kodak/WBCA All-America Team will be announced Saturday, April 3.
