Full tanks make for empty wallets

photo Rise in fuel costs has students carpooling more, driving less

The temperature is not the only thing that has risen in Tucson; the cost of gasoline has skyrocketed and left UA students strapped for cash.

The average cost for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline in Pima County is now $1.85, and the highest recorded price for the county was documented just last week at $1.89 per gallon, according to the American Automobile Association. [Read article]

Junior climbs her way to success after overcoming a series of personal tragedies

Musician Debbie Luna didn't expect to be a college student. She especially didn't see herself performing as a jazz vocalist. But after overcoming several personal tragedies, Luna, a music junior, is both in school and performing around Tucson.

Luna is finally cashing in on her love of music after, at the age of 8, her mother introduced her to jazz.

When she was 18, Luna, a California native, visited one of her sisters in Arizona. [Read article]
