Police used K-9s in Safford March 23 at 10 p.m. to secure a mobile home at 826 S. Eighth Ave. with a possible burglar inside, reports stated.

The house was barricaded, and the owner's ex-husband was thought to be inside, "lying in wait" for her to return, reports stated.

The ex-husband had made previous death threats and was just released from prison. Police were advised that there was a shotgun and several handguns inside the home with the possible suspect, reports stated.

A K-9 ranger was sent in the home after police said, "Attention in the house ÷ this is the K-9 police, come out now or I will send a dog in to bite you," reports stated.

The ranger was instructed to search the interior of the house and returned a short time later indicating that the house was clear, reports stated.

Safford police manually searched the house and no suspect was found, reports stated.
