The Arizona men's club lacrosse team capped its three-day, three-game road trip with a win yesterday, defeating UCLA 14-2 in Los Angeles to complete a weekend sweep.

Attackmen Christian Burrows and Adam Paris each scored five points for the Laxcats (8-3, 3-1 Western Collegiate Lacrosse League), who have won a season-high-tying four straight games.

"We met expectations (this weekend)," said Arizona head coach Kenny Broschart.

On Sunday, Paris scored a career-high nine points on six goals and three assists for the Laxcats, which took a 9-0 halftime advantage en route to a 16-5 victory over Loyola Marymount.

In a solid defensive effort, junior midfielder Tim McComb held WCLL top scorer John Wiley to only two points for Loyola (8-4, 2-2 WCLL).

Attackman Corey Garrard led the Lions with three goals and two assists.

"We thought (Loyola) was a one- or two-person team," said Broschart. "We shut their one or two superstars down, and we were OK."

The Laxcats began their weekend with a 12-6 victory over Chapman on Saturday. After falling behind 4-2 in the first period, Arizona rebounded thanks to the stick of sophomore attackman Greg Polheber, who scored three second-half goals and five overall.

Freshman midfielder Harrison Crawford and Paris also completed hat tricks against the Panthers (7-2, 4-1 WCLL), with three goals and an assist each.

Arizona dominated the grass at Ernie Chapman Stadium, grabbing 91 ground balls to Chapman's 40. The Laxcats' total nearly marked the team's second trip into triple digits this season, following a team-record 104 ground balls gathered against Texas Tech on Feb. 23.

"That's what we're all about÷ground balls, heart, and hustle," said Broschart. "We stick to our game plan and we're unbeatable."

Arizona begins its final homestand of the season Saturday against UC San Diego. The team plays Southern California the following day, and wraps up its home schedule April 6 against St. Mary's.

The Laxcats conclude the regular season April 17 against Arizona State at Sun Devil Stadium.

"The rest of the regular season, we just need to keep on progressing and get better," said Broschart. "When the playoffs roll around, we'll be clicking as a team."
