Question: When is the Park Student Union going to re-open?
Answer: This is a question close to my heart. As a freshman living in Coronado, I ate at PSU for every meal, and I have fond memories of sitting in front of the big-screen TV, enjoying delicious Chick-Fil-A waffle fries and watching The Young and The Restless. But as many of you already know, since December the PSU has been closed for renovation.
The revamped PSU will be the new home for Arizona Student Media (The Daily Wildcat newspaper, KAMP Radio & UATV). In fact, I'm excited to say that our editor in chief, Jeff Sklar, told me that The Wildcat will be moving to the cozy new offices over winter break. A Residence Life Office, information desk, table & electronic games room, retail lease spaces, outdoor dining and program space, expanded indoor food court seating, and an expanded self-serve copy area will also be added.
Here is some additional info:
· Size of PSU before renovation: 32,000 gross square feet
· Size being added to PSU: 17,000 gross square feet
· Original Construction Year: 1965
· Renovation/Expansion Budget: $6.1 million
· Existing Program Elements: Food Court / Dining, Bookstore, Arizona Student Media ÷ KAMP Radio, Conference Rooms, Retail, Food Outlets, Convenience Store
· Added Program Elements: Arizona Student Media ÷ Wildcat Newspaper, Residence Life Office, Information Desk, Table Games, Electronic Games, Retail Lease Space, Outdoor Dining, Outdoor Program Space, Expanded Indoor Food Court Seating, Expanded Self-serve Copy Area.
I hope that satisfies your curiosity! I know I'm excited to resume my lunchtime soap-opera watching ritual come January!
