Stoops ready for summer
The 2004 Arizona football season could depend as much on what happens this summer as what happens this fall.
The Wildcats closed out Spring Football April 17 with the annual Spring Game. The team will now focus on summer workouts.
"Our goals over the summer are to become a faster, stronger football team so we can execute with a more violent attitude," head coach Mike Stoops said.
Last season, Arizona had about 25 players ÷ about half the roster ÷ participating in voluntary workouts. The Wildcats then suffered one of the worst seasons in school history, going 2-10 and winning only one Pacific 10 Conference game for the second straight year.

Softball Diamond Notes: Hollowell tops Hollowell for K record
Arizona softball sophomore pitcher Alicia Hollowell's middle name is Kay. How appropriate: She is first in Ks for the UA, again.
Hollowell (32-1) and the rest of the Wildcats (45-2, 9-1 Pacific 10 Conference) finally lost a Pac-10 game Sunday, nearly going through the first half of the league's schedule unscathed. The good news: Hollowell reached 400 strikeouts for the season, breaking her own record of 394 set last year.

Women's golf team hopes for a Normal victory
The Arizona women's golf team found out yesterday where it will be playing in the NCAA Regional tournament, and the destination is pretty Normal.
The Wildcats will be teeing it up at the 6,500-yard Illinois State University Golf Course in Normal, Ill., beginning May 6, as the third seed in the Central Regional.
Head coach Greg Allen said even though the Wildcats have to travel over a time zone, at least they aren't heading all the way to the Atlantic.
