The $1,000 vinyl cover of a student's 1997 Ford Mustang was vandalized early Thursday morning while the car was parked at Sky View Apartments, 1050 E. Eighth St., reports stated.

The student parked his car at 1:30 a.m., and when he returned at 7 a.m., the cover had a 5-foot rip above the driver-side door and a 1-foot rip on the passenger side, reports stated.

The damage appeared to be an attempt to get inside the vehicle, but nothing was missing from inside the car, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, and the student wishes to press charges if a suspect is found.


A golf cart registered to Domino's Pizza was stolen Thursday afternoon while it was parked at Park Student Union, 615 N. Park Ave., reports stated.

An employee parked the car at 3 p.m., and when he returned at 4:30 p.m., the cart was gone, reports stated.

Police recorded the vehicle's information in case it is recovered, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


A Kuiper Space Sciences employee's $100 watch and wallet containing $600 were stolen out of an unlocked locker in Bear Down Gym, 1428 E. University Blvd., Thursday evening while he was in the shower.

The employee put the items in the locker at 7 p.m. and closed it so it appeared to be locked, but didn't lock the locker. The employee then went to the gym showers, reports stated.

When he returned 10 minutes later, the items were gone, reports stated.

The employee said the only other person he saw in the locker room was a man in his early 20s who was going to the showers at the same time, reports stated.

Police searched in the garbage cans and bushes in and around the gym but found nothing, reports stated.

The employee said he canceled his credit cards and will inform police if the companies report unusual activity, reports stated.


A student's Jeep Wrangler was broken into sometime between April 19 and Thursday, and $1,558 worth of sound equipment, CDs and vehicle accessories was stolen from it while it was parked in Tyndall Garage, 880 E. Fourth St., reports stated.

The student told police he parked his jeep at 11:30 p.m. on April 19, reports stated.

When he returned at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, he found that his subwoofers and amplifiers, CDs, vinyl top, a pellet gun and other items had been stolen from the vehicle, reports stated.

There was no criminal damage to the vehicle.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


A student's $2,500 black laptop was stolen from his room in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house, 1509 E. Second St., Wednesday between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., reports stated.

The student said he left his room to play video games in one of the other rooms, and when he returned, the laptop was gone, reports stated.

He said he left his window open 2 to 3 feet, and that someone could have entered his room through it and taken his computer, reports stated.

The student's window is on the north side of the house, and someone could have easily gained entry through it, reports stated.

The student did not notice any suspicious people in the house that morning, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


A $2,825 digital projector in a black vinyl case was stolen from a conference room in the Life Sciences North building, 1333 N. Martin Ave., sometime between Dec. 15 and Feb. 19, reports stated.

The employee who reported it stolen e-mailed more than 50 employees and students in an attempt to find the projector, but did not receive any information, reports stated.

The room is open and used by service departments between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, reports stated.

There was no forced entry to the room, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


An employee of CF Jordan Construction received a phone call Thursday at 11:30 a.m. from a woman claiming to be a UA student, asking for information about contractors, reports stated.

The woman said she was working on a project for her economics major and asked the employee for a list of subcontractors working for Central Animal Facility and UMC Health Sciences, reports stated.

The employee asked her for a contact phone number and she refused to provide one, but gave the employee an AOL e-mail address, reports stated.

The woman said she was working on the project with an economics professor, but neither the student nor the professor appears as a student or employee at the UA, reports stated.

The call was not traced.

The employee reported a similar call about a year ago, reports stated.
