Lecture - 7.00 p.m.

Patti Harada, a UA professor of psychology, answers the world's oldest questions - "Why won't he listen? Why won't she shut up?" - at University Medical Center's Duval Auditorium, 1501 N. Campbell Ave. $10.

 

Concert - 7.00 p.m.

Blindside and Five Speed bring their rock stylings to City Limits, 6350 E. Tanque Verde Road. $10.

 

Baseball - 7.00 p.m.

The Tucson sidewinders aim for the fences of Tucson Electric Park, 2500 E. Ajo Way. All proceeds from the game go to benefit Planned Parenthood of Southern Arizona. $5.

 

Play - 7.00 p.m.

Commander Rick Rocket and his Space Rangers Battle intergalactic bad guys in "Space Rangers 2005" at the Gaslight Theatre, 1710 E. Broadway Blvd. $14.

 

Live Music - 7.00 p.m.

Improv troupes New Kevin and Comedy Corner head up the Atkins-Friendly Comedy Show at the Wilde Playhouse, 135 E. Congress St. $5.

 

Play - 7.30 p.m.

The Live Theatre Workshop, 5317 E. Speedway Blvd., presents Jean Paul Sartre's "No Exit," a revelatory look at three damned souls. FREE.

 

Opera - 7.30 p.m.

Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Gondoliers" opens at Crowder Hall, East Speedway Blvd. and North Park Ave. Not to be confused with Stephen King's "The Langoliers." $10-16

 

Play - 7.30 p.m.

Arizona Repertory Theatre presents Noises Off! at the Marroney Theater, 1025 N. Olive Road. $15-25

William Van Zandt's comedy, "Love, Sex and the IRS," hits the stage of the Red Barn Theater, 948 N. Main Ave. $8.

 

Comedy Show - 8.00 p.m.

Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed hams it up for a 21-and-over crowd at Vaudeville Cabaret, 135 E. Congress St. $4.

 

Psychic Readings - 7.00 p.m.

Rosalie Mashtalier and Lisa Archer provide one-on-one readings at Bookman's, 1930 E. Grant Road. They'll be expecting you. FREE.

 

Concert - 7.00 p.m.

Grammy nominated Native American flautist Vince Redhouse shows off his craft at Borders, 4235 N. Oracle Road. FREE.

 

Play - 7.30 p.m.

Robin Hawdon's comedy, "Perfect Wedding," is anything but at the Wilde Playhouse, 135 E. Congress St. $12.

 

Concert - 7.00 p.m.

A trio of local punk bands get scrappy at Skrappy's, 201 E. Broadway Blvd., to benefit an organization for the prevention of child abuse. $5.

 


Saturday, June 26

Star Viewing - 6.30 p.m.

Fledgling astronomers will have a stellar time at New Scope Night at Kitt Peak National Observatory. No telescope is needed, but reservations are. Call 318-8726 to book a space and get directions to the observatory, located on Kitt Peak. $25.

 

Concert - 8.00 p.m.

Grammy nominee Luis Villegas strums some Latin tunes en su guitarra at the Tucson Museum of Art, 140 N. Main Ave. $15 in advance, $17 at the door.

 

Reading - 2.00 p.m.

First-time Tucson novelist Bonnie Marson presents and signs "Sleeping with Schubert," the story of a woman who becomes possessed by the spirit of the Romantic composer, at the Reader's Oasis, 3400 E. Speedway. FREE.

 

Drag Show - 7.30 and 9.30 p.m.

Bunny FuFu and Diana Flair host "Ladies of the Temple," a drag show to benefit non-profit GLBT organizations, at the Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Ave. $10.

 

Drag Racing - 7.00 p.m.

The Southwestern International Raceway, 11300 S. Houghton Road, hosts "A Night of Fire and Thunder" - drag racing, that is. Qualifying rounds start at 5.00 p.m. $20.

 

Play - 9.00 p.m.

Pyrotechnic theater group Flam-Chen and the Molehill Orkestrah light up the stage of Lucky Street Studios, 520 N. 9th Ave., with their performance of "The Monkey King."

 


Sunday, June 27

Play - 7.00 p.m.

Leave the house to go to "Home," David Storey's new production that the New York Post called "striking and strangely moving." It runs at the Live Theatre Workshop, 5317 E. Speedway Blvd. FREE.

 

Concert - 8.00 p.m.

Suffrajett, a female-fronted garage rock band, opens for old-school legends MC5. For more on the show, which takes place at Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St., check out page 13. $15 in advance, $17 at the door.

 

Concert - 9.00 p.m.

Former Soul Coughing frontman Mike Doughty plays sans soul with his new self-titled band. The group will take it to the stage of the Solar Culture Gallery, 31 E. Toole Ave. Go for the music, stay for the obsessive fans. $10.

 


Monday, June 28

Live Music - 7.00 p.m.

Tucson Music Theater's "I Brindisi Singers" belt out classics and classical at Piazza Gavi, 5415 N. Kolb Road. If you're willing to pay $8 for a cappuccino and a chocolate croissant, it's worth the trip. FREE.

 


Tuesday, June 29

Walking Tour - 6.00 p.m.

What could be more entertaining than Armory Park at night? If you're a thrillseeker, meet up with KruseArizona Tours in front of the Royal Elizabeth Bed & Breakfast, 204 S. Scott Ave. You may or may not want to come packin.' $15.

 

Dance Program - 6.00 p.m.

The Tzofim, or Israeli Scouts, have made their way over from the Promised Land to host a program of song and dance in English and Hebrew. The show will take place at the Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Road. FREE.
