The man responsible for the longest offensive play in Wildcat and Pacific 10 Conference history will go a long way toward deciding who will be Arizona's next head football coach.
Brandon Marshall, a graduate student at the UA and a former wide receiver for the Wildcats, was selected to bring a student presence to the Arizona football coach search committee, senior associate athletics director Kathleen "Rocky" LaRose announced Friday.
"We determined that it would be wise to add a student to the committee," LaRose said. "I'm delighted that Brandon agreed to serve on the group."
Marshall, 26, earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the UA in May 2002. Today, he is working toward a master's in language, reading and culture.
Marshall was a key contributor as a receiver for the Wildcats in 2000 and 2001. He caught 11 passes for 175 yards as a junior, and 20 passes for 411 yards ÷ a team-high 20.5 yards per reception ÷ and four touchdowns as a senior.
Marshall caught a 99-yard touchdown against Idaho in his final season as a Wildcat ÷ the longest in the history of Arizona and the Pac-10.
Marshall becomes the 12th member of the committee assembled by LaRose and athletics director Jim Livengood. He joins local businessmen Jim Click and Bill Estes, athletic department officials and university representatives on the panel.
