Grad student waits around to make a Costco run with a friend to take advantage of cheap rice, orange juice
Wildcat: Hi, my name is Nathan.
Bollineni: Hey, Nathan.
Wildcat: And this is a drive-by On the Spot · and don't worry. That clicking sound wasn't my Tech-9; it was my recorder.
Bollineni: OK.
Wildcat: So how come you're standing out here all by yourself? I mean, I have that problem; don't get me wrong. I just don't have friends.
Bollineni: I'm just waiting for a friend of mine. We're going to go to Costco to get some groceries.
Wildcat: Ah. See, at least you have friends. I just wait around waiting for someone to be my friend.
Bollineni: Oh, that's bad.
Wildcat: Yeah, I know. Like what do you do? Is there a certain way you get or attract friends?
Bollineni: Yeah. I think I've got good manners. No · I try to be funny.
Wildcat: Try to be funny? I try that and people just, like, stare at me.
Bollineni: They laugh at you too? Is that what you're saying?
Wildcat: Yeah. You know how that is? When you try to say something cool and they stare at you and tell you, "That's not cool."
Bollineni: Sure.
Wildcat: Makes me feel really bad.
Bollineni: Yeah it does. Sure. Yeah, man.
Wildcat: So what are you going to buy at Costco? Milk?
Bollineni: Ah · nah, actually I'm going to get some rice and some juice. Orange juice.
Wildcat: Isn't rice like one of the more universal foods?
Bollineni: I use Indian rice. At Costco, I get pretty good rice at the best price.
Wildcat: Is it called Indian rice?
Bollineni: Basmati rice.
Wildcat: Oh, I ·
Bollineni: It's a flavored rice. It's very good.
Wildcat: Oh, wow.
Bollineni: Yeah. You should try it.
Wildcat: I will · hey! You want to be my friend, invite me over and then I could try your rice?
Bollineni: Sure man. Come over some time.
