UA senior hired by Fox Sports Net to cover Wildcat sports
After weeding through more than 50 candidates for a student reporter position, Fox Sports Net Arizona has made its final cut, selecting UA senior Dan Mitchell as the newest member of its broadcast team.
"I was really shocked," said Mitchell, a Chandler native majoring in English and journalism. "I really honestly didn't think I'd get the job. When they called and told me, I was really caught off guard."

Volleyball: Cats prepare for 3-match weekend
Despite a Wildcat report yesterday that the Arizona volleyball team is set to play Oregon Saturday night, the match will actually take place Thursday in McKale Center.
Arizona (7-10, 1-6 Pacific 10 Conference) is scheduled to play Oregon (3-12, 0-7) on Thursday, followed by a Friday matchup against Oregon State (12-7, 2-5) and a Sunday match at the No. 2 Rainbow Wahine (17-1, 5-0 Western Athletic Conference) of Hawaii.

Women's hoops picked to finish second in Pac-10
The Arizona women's basketball team is the league coaches' pick to finish second in the Pacific 10 Conference this season, the Pac-10 announced yesterday.
The Wildcats picked up 72 points ÷ including two first-place votes ÷ to trail only defending Pac-10 champion Stanford, who picked up 80 points and eight first-place votes in the preseason poll.
Arizona head coach Joan Bonvicini said her team is good enough to prove the voters right, but that it will take a lot of hard work to get there by the end of the season.

Cross country teams take second at ASU
The UA cross country team headed north to Tempe this weekend to compete in the Arizona State Invitational, with both the men's and women's squads taking second place in the meet.
In a meet dubbed a "training race" by head coach James Li, Arizona was among six college squads participating in Tempe. The Wildcats' opponents included Utah, Hawaii, New Mexico State, Long Beach State and host ASU.
