1970

  • January ÷ Despite protests from students, the student senate and a front-page Wildcat editorial suggesting he should resign, university president Richard Harvill said it would be "ill-advised" to sever ties with Brigham Young University over alleged racial policies of the Mormon church. The controversy erupted in January in response to the arrests of the student body president and vicepresident at a basketball game against BYU.

  • October ÷ If you can't get enough of the Wildcat, you are not alone. On Oct. 21, 1970, the Wildcat newsstands were emptied by 8:30 a.m. by unseen thieves. We recommend that multiple copies of the Wildcat not be stolen if you are upset, because it is a crime. Rather, we encourage you to write letters to the editor.
