All-American left fielder prefers hot pink uniforms, sometimes forgets to breathe
Wildcat: My name's Claire. I'm from Daily Wildcat and you're On the Spot. So, what do you think of the fall tournament so far?
Champion: Oh, it's going really good. I think we're coming together real good as a team. It's fun. We're having a good time.
Wildcat: That's good. So, are you looking forward to the season starting in January?
Champion: Yeah. We're really excited. I mean, we still have a long way to go. But that's what the tournament's about. We learn from it.
Wildcat: So, what do you think about the color of your uniforms?
Champion: Oh, I love them!
Wildcat: So, you wouldn't like something like, say, pink and green?
Champion: Ha, ha! No! Well, maybe hot pink.
Wildcat: Hot pink? All hot pink?
Champion: Hot pink and white. But I like our uniform colors. I think they're good.
Wildcat: OK So, what's your favorite nursery rhyme?
Champion: Oh, I don't even think I know any nursery rhymes. I guess the Humpty Dumpty one.
Wildcat: Humpty Dumpty? Can you relate to Humpty Dumpty?
Champion: Yeah, Īcause I kind of have a broken back.
Wildcat: How'd you break your back?
Champion: Well, I was diving into second and I tore a few discs in my back.
Wildcat: Wow. That must have hurt!
Champion: (laughing) Yeah. Yeah, it hurt. I wear a back brace at the games.
Wildcat: Oh, does that hinder your game play at all?
Champion: Um, no. I can't wear it at practice though, because it restricts my breathing. But I wear it in games.
Wildcat: Well, who needs to breathe? Do you breathe all that often?
Champion: No, not really. Sometimes I forget.
Wildcat: Yeah, so do I. I think its part of being blonde. Do you have that problem, too?
Champion: (laughing) Yeah, everyone makes fun of me. But, whatever!
