Police stopped a driver Tuesday for not driving with his headlights on and found that he had an outstanding warrant, reports stated.

The student was driving on East Speedway Boulevard at 10:31 p.m. with his headlights off. When the officer stopped the driver, he smelled an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the car, reports stated.

The officer did a background check on the driver and found that he had a warrant for not appearing in court for a previous marijuana possession charge, reports stated.

After the student was handcuffed and taken from the vehicle, the officer noticed marijuana fragments on the front of his pants. A further search, revealed an empty bag in his pants, reports stated.

The student was arrested for the outstanding warrant and booked into Pima County Jail.

He was also charged with driving at night without his headlights on, reports stated.


A student was arrested Monday for stealing a registration sticker from another car and placing it on his, reports stated.

An officer driving behind the student's car ran his license plate through the Motor Vehicle Division database and saw that it had expired in 2002.

When he stopped the car, the student said he couldn't remember when he had it registered, but said his license plate was not expired, reports stated.

The officer asked the student if there was anything he would like to say about the license plate and he said "no." The officer read the student his Miranda rights and asked again.

The student again offered no information about the plate, saying that the MVD had mailed him the 2003 registration sticker, reports stated.

After further questioning, the student eventually admitted to stealing the 2003 registration sticker from another car and placing it on his, reports stated.


A student called police Sunday after he noticed that his bike had been stolen from a rack at Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., reports stated.

The student locked his red Newton mountain bike to the rack at 7 p.m. on Saturday and noticed it missing at 6 p.m. the following day, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


A student called police after his car stereo was stolen from his car Sunday, reports stated.

The student parked his orange Honda Civic in the Cherry Street Garage, 1641 E. Enke Road, and returned later that day. When he opened the door, he noticed that his Pioneer car stereo was cut out of the dashboard.

The stereo is worth $700.

Police did not find evidence of forced entry or fingerprints. They have no witnesses or suspects, reports stated.


A homeless man was arrested for marijuana possession and drinking in public charges, and for false reporting on Saturday while standing in front of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority house, 1775 E. First St., reports stated.

Police first saw the man eating a burrito on the side of the street. He had a bottle in a paper bag next to him, report stated.

When the officer spoke to the man, another officer found a tinfoil pipe and a napkin with "green leafy substance" inside. The pipe had burnt residue in it, reports stated.

When the officer opened the paper bag, he found an open 40-ounce bottle of Steel Reserve beer, reports stated.

The man eventually told officers his name after first giving an incorrect name.

He was arrested and released at the scene, reports stated.


Police arrested a man on a drug paraphernalia possession charge Friday after he said, "Fuck you, you sons of bitches," to a bicycle cop, reports stated.

The man was walking south on North Park Avenue at 11:58 p.m. when the bike cop and a university employee rode by him on their bikes. The employee heard what the man said and told the officer, reports stated.

The officer confronted the man and asked what he said. The man claimed to have said that he had wished them a good night and nothing more, reports stated.

The officer repeated what the employee heard and the man said, "It's free speech," reports stated.

When the officer searched the man, he found a glass pipe with burnt residue. The officer did a background search and found the man was wanted for shoplifting, reports stated.

The officer arrested the man for disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia charges and for the outstanding warrant, reports stated.
