Arizona sophomore fullback Gilbert Harris and freshman offensive lineman Keith Jackson missed yesterday's practice for undisclosed reasons.
UA interim head football coach Mike Hankwitz said that no disciplinary action has taken place.
Hankwitz did say, however, that he would disclose tomorrow whether Harris and Jackson would make the trip to Corvallis, Ore., for the Wildcats' game against Pacific 10 Conference opponent Oregon State.
The situation comes two days after Hankwitz dismissed senior running back Clarence Farmer from the team after he was late to practice Tuesday.
Hankwitz said after yesterday's practice that he doesn't let recent controversies affect him once he and his players meet on the field.
"When I come out here, I don't worry about all that stuff," he said. "I know it's been an unusual year, but we've got to focus on the important things, and that's the things that we can control."
Harris has appeared in all eight of Arizona's games this season. He has three carries for eight yards and a touchdown on the year, along with 10 catches for 86 yards.
Jackson has started at left guard in Arizona's last four games.
Scott, Carr to back up Bell at tailback
A trio of sophomores will anchor Arizona's running game tomorrow.
Hankwitz confirmed yesterday that redshirt sophomore Gainus Scott will be Arizona's No. 2 tailback behind redshirt sophomore Mike Bell, but he also announced that sophomore Beau Carr will be third on the depth chart against Oregon State.
"Beau worked very hard in the last game he got to play in, and he deserves that opportunity," he said.
WR Relford, OT Bell suffer injury setbacks
Hankwitz said senior wide receiver Lance Relford injured his left thumb in practice yesterday, making his status for tomorrow's game uncertain.
"A deflected ball hit his thumb, so we're going to get a specialist to ascertain the severity of it." Hankwitz said.
The extent of Relford's injury will be evaluated before the Wildcats depart for Corvallis, Ore. Hankwitz said. It is unknown whether Relford will make the team flight today.
Additionally, offensive tackle Tanner Bell suffered a knee injury in practice Tuesday. Hankwitz said Bell will also be evaluated tomorrow.
"He didn't tear any ligaments, but he had trouble with his kneecaps," Hankwitz said.
Bell is questionable for tomorrow's game.
