After two rough games against Arizona State, the Icecats will look to put a scare into the orange-and-black Tennessee hockey team on Halloween weekend.
American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1 No. 10 Arizona (1-0-1) hosts the brand-new Division 2 Ice Vols (4-5) tonight and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Tucson Convention Center arena.
The Icecats have made some changes that head coach Leo Golembiewski hopes will get the UA more offense after only scoring six goals in two games earlier this week against ASU.
Sophomore forward D.J. Pelletier and freshman defenseman Kevin Connors have been moved up to the first line in an effort to get the Icecats' offensive stars, junior forwards Shaun Brooks and Mickey Meehan, more involved, according to Golembiewski.
"We made a couple of adjustments," Golembiewski said. "We weren't getting the puck up to Brooks and Meehan very effectively in the two games against ASU."
The Ice Vols' Arizona trip is the first time they will face Division 1 competition this season, having faced Division 2 Kentucky and Texas, Division 3 Georgia and non-ACHA opponent South Carolina.
"The reason we're playing Tennessee is because Colorado State couldn't fulfill their oral commitment to us," Golembiewski said.

Tennessee comes to Arizona having lost three of four. The roughed-up Vols earned a split in Austin against the Longhorns and played ASU at Tempe's Oceanside Arena late last night.
"I heard they are coming a little short-manned because they have four major injuries," Golembiewski said.
Tennessee made the move from Division 3 to Division 2 in anticipation of moving to Division 1 next year to help form the South Eastern Collegiate Hockey Conference. Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina State and Middle Tennessee State have signed on to join the new league.
UA junior goalie Bryan Aronchick said the Ice Vols, who play all their home games except one in a compact 300-seat arena, will likely be surprised when they hit the ice at the "Madhouse on Main Street."
"I really have no idea. We played a team like that last year, De Paul," Aronchick said. "It'll probably be the same kind of thing. They don't really know what they're doing out here."
In the first two games, Aronchick made 37 and 46 saves, respectively, in the Icecats' 4-2 win and 2-2 tie against ASU. Aronchick saved the game and the point for the UA on Tuesday, as the Icecats could only muster 23 shots.
"Obviously, we are looking to complement our goaltending," Golembiewski said. "I thought the game Aronchick played on Tuesday was a smart game. He was really on, mentally."
The game with UT should provide the Icecats a chance to rest some of their starters after their two games earlier this week.
Tennessee is coming off back-to-back Division 3 tournament appearances, while the UA has been to 20 straight Division 1 tournaments.
"Tennessee will give us a little bit of a chance to work on some new things," Golembiewski said.
