Several UA clubs will joust, hula-hoop and show their spirit in a series of competitions to determine which club gets to take home the cash.
The second half of the annual Club Olympics, featuring 24 different clubs from across campus, is today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Mall in front of the Student Union Memorial Center.
The $500 award from ASUA will go help fund the winning club.
"This is a chance to get clubs interacting with each other," said Jennie Collins, the club events coordinator.
Clubs competing this year range from the Vietnamese Student Association to KAMP Student Radio.
There were eight clubs that competed last year, and only four clubs competed two years ago, the first year of the Club Olympics.
ASUA Senator Kara Harris credited Jennie Collins for the huge jump in participation.
"Jennie really went overboard this year," Harris said. "I wish all 400 clubs would do it. We could do it over a week."
Yesterday, over 100 club members descended on the Mall to participate in various competitions, including rock climbing, UA trivia, a water balloon toss and a hot dog eating contest.
"The pies last year were frozen, so I hope the hot dogs aren't this year," said Darby Sinding, a member of the professional business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi.
Yesterday a rivalry was brewing between Alpha Kappa Psi, who won the Olympics two years ago, and last year's winner, the Chain Gang Junior Honorary.
"The more people you get, the better," Sinding said. "We have eight, but the Chain Gang has a few more."
