Eight students were arrested Monday on minor in consumption charges after a police officer pulled them over for running a stop sign, reports stated.

The officer saw a white Ford Explorer slow down to 15 mph when it approached the East Second Street and North Park Avenue intersection at 11:45 p.m.

The SUV did not stop for the stop sign. When he pulled behind it, he heard somebody yell, "Fuck," reports stated.

As he spoke with the driver, he noticed there were eight passengers in the car. He could also smell alcohol coming from the backseat of the car.

The driver said he did not stop for the stop sign because the passengers in his car needed to get back to their residence halls to use the restroom. He also said they had been at a party on North Vine Street earlier in the night.

The driver was cited for failure to stop for a stop sign and the eight passengers were arrested on minor in consumption charges, reports stated.


Two students called police Tuesday after they found their cars broken into and stereo equipment taken from both, reports stated.

The students parked their trucks, a green Toyota Tacoma pickup and a black Dodge Durango, at 3 p.m. in a parking lot at 1157 N. Vine St. When they returned at 7 p.m., they found the rear passenger-side window of the Durango and the back side window of the Tacoma smashed out.

A MTX amplifier, two 10-inch subwoofers, a Sony car stereo and 65 compact discs were taken from the Durango, totaling $1,175. The Tacoma was missing more than $5,000 of equipment, including 400 CDs, a Pioneer CD player, and Rockford Fosgate speakers and amplifier, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


Two students parked at the Delta Chi fraternity house found their vehicles vandalized Tuesday, reports stated.

The students called police at 11:45 p.m. after they noticed the rear window of a silver Pontiac Grand Am and the passenger window of a Chevrolet pickup smashed in.

A Sony car stereo was stolen from the Grand Am. There was nothing stolen from the truck, reports stated.

Both students said they last saw their vehicles intact at 4 p.m.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.


A student called police Tuesday after he found his car broken into while parked at 520 N. Euclid Ave., reports stated.

The student parked his car in the lot at noon the day before. When he returned to the car at 9 a.m. Tuesday, he noticed the rear window of his car smashed in.

His Alpine CD player was also stolen.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.

An employee called police Monday when he noticed that the Warren Street Tunnel had been vandalized, reports stated.

The employee was cleaning litter at 8:55 a.m. when he noticed that some of the bricks on both sides of the underpass had been removed from the walls. He also saw two street signs pulled from the ground and another removed from its pole.

There were also two lights in the tunnel that were smashed. The employee last saw the tunnel intact on Friday evening, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


An employee from the UA Athletic Department called police Monday to report a man following the cheerleading squad around campus and harassing members, reports stated.

The employee and a cheerleader reported that the man had been following the squad since the beginning of the semester. He had also confronted one of the cheerleaders and asked for her phone number.

On Saturday, the employee asked the man twice to leave the area where the cheerleaders were warming up before the football game because he was interfering with their practice, reports stated.

The man has been seen at numerous cheerleading practices and arrives early for sporting events. He stares at the cheerleaders as they warm up.

Police found the man's name and saw that he is a UA student.

They will contact the student to discuss the situation, reports stated.


A student called police Monday after she found her UA parking permit stolen from her car, reports stated.

The student parked her car at 2 p.m. in a parking lot at 1516 E. Mabel Ave. When she returned at 5 p.m., she saw that her parking permit had been removed from the rear-view mirror.

The student said she locked the doors to the car before leaving, but left the driver-side window open 2 inches for ventilation purposes, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.
