Team Nike may give UA its toughest test of preseason tonight

College basketball's future will get a look at its past Thursday night when the UA men's basketball team concludes its exhibition season in McKale Center with a matchup against an elite squad.

Team Nike will be the opponent tonight as the Wildcats prepare to embark on their 100th season in Tucson. For the Nike Elite, this preseason college tour is bringing many of its players back to the collegiate hardwood where they made a name for themselves years ago. [Read article]

Pair of UA players in court after arrests

Arizona junior linebacker Kirk Johnson was arrested for the second time this year after being charged on two criminal counts.

Johnson, along with redshirt sophomore running back Gainus Scott, was charged with disorderly conduct on Monday, Nov. 3. Johnson was additionally charged with false reporting to law enforcement.

Both men were arraigned at Tucson Municipal Court on Nov. 13. Scott's pretrial is scheduled for Dec. 15, while Johnson's pretrial date is set for Dec. 16. [Read article]

photo Volleyball readies for Dawg fight

Forget about the fact that the UA volleyball team is ranked No. 25 and Washington is ranked No. 11 - the most exciting part about tomorrow's match may be the setting.

The Huskies (18-7, 9-7 Pacific 10 Conference) boast the Conference of Champions' leader in assists, while the Wildcats (14-13, 8-8) counter with freshman setter Stephanie Butkus, who is third in the Pac-10 in assists.

Fellow rookie UW setter Courtney Thompson is fourth nationally with 14.23 assists per game. She is on pace to set the school record. [Read article]
