UA channel debuts live call-in math show to help students

Tutors from the University of Arizona math department will be taking calls and solving problems on the air on "Do the Math," a new series premiering Thursday, Sept. 4, on the UA Channel. The program will air live every Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the school year. "Do the Math" helps students and parents better understand math concepts, and supports teachers through presentations and innovative teaching techniques.

Stevie Eller Dance Theatre dedication set for Sept. 19

The new Stevie Eller Dance Theatre at the UA will be dedicated formally on Sept. 19. The building was designed by the architectural firm of Gould Evans of Phoenix, and has received the 2003 Citation Award from the AIA, Arizona Chapter. According to the design team, the structure "redefines movement at every corner of the complex and acts as a moving backdrop for the nationally recognized University of Arizona dance program."

Occupying 28,600 square feet on the east gateway to campus and the UA Mall, adjacent to the Ina Gittings Building, the new teaching and performance space boasts a 300-seat theatre with an orchestra pit, a full fly tower, a control suite, an indoor/outdoor lobby, catwalks, an outdoor stage; and a scene and costume shop.
