photo Big crowd expected for Saturday's tilt with LSU

Cats look to duplicate last week's win with favored Tigers in town

As the Wildcats jump-started another hopeful season, the team still had some sketchy areas ÷ and with a loose quarterback slot, their leading rusher hurt with a shoulder injury and a bad preseason ranking, the last thing the team wanted to worry about was a lack of support from its fans.

That, however, wasn't even an issue Saturday, as Arizona trounced Texas El-Paso, 42-7, in front of the best student turnout in recent memory. [Read article]

photo Volleyball hosts home tourney

Sandwiched between matches at No. 5 Pepperdine and No. 20 Santa Clara, a young UA volleyball team's home opener against the senior-laden San Diego State squad could have all the makings of an upset ÷ something Arizona has been warned about.

Today, the No. 10 Wildcats (2-1, 0-0 Pacific 10 Conference) host the Aztecs (2-1) at 10 a.m., then face the No. 20 Broncos of Santa Clara (1-1) in their first home matches of the season in the Four Points University Plaza Wildcat Classic. [Read article]
