This week's winners ... and losers

The bomb ÷ Gov. Napolitano guest-coaching the women's basketball team. Hats off to the busy governor taking time to come down to the Old Pueblo. To top off a great visit to the UA, Napolitano coached the team to an 18-point win. Maybe we can get her to help out the men's team, which is having trouble with that "win" thing lately.

A bomb ÷ President Bush only releasing a handful of documents to prove he served with the National Guard. We have nothing against the National Guard; it's a great way for people to serve the country. That said, what's with all the secrecy? If the proof is there, stop lollygagging around and show it to us already!

The bomb ÷ Shawntinice Polk and Monica Bisordi being named Pac-10 Players of the Week. Look at that, two of our best female athletes topping the Pac-10 this week. Congratulations to them, and keep up the hard work.

A bomb ÷ Kicking clubs and other groups out of the residence halls. If Residence Life is worried about students being "displaced" by a club meeting in a hall, then it better make sure the maintenance crews stay out too. Heaven forbid a student sees a club meeting and becomes involved on this campus.

The bomb ÷ To all the new candidates in the ASUA election: All 14 of them, 13 for Senate, deserve a pat on the back for throwing their hats into the ring. This is a great thing that will make the elections much more exciting, but why did all these people need so much coaxing and an extended deadline? Let's hope the voters realize there is only one deadline for voting, and they won't get a "redo" like our candidates did.

A bomb ÷ The alcohol stored in the closet of the Office of International Student Programs and Services. OK, we like to party as much as the next group of UA students, but in school? Whether the alcohol gets consumed in the building, it'll get consumed someplace. Otherwise, it's just a waste of beer.
