This weekend was supposed to challenge the Arizona softball team - but then, Leslie Wolfe was supposed to be a liability in the circle.

The No. 2 Wildcats (11-0) capped another perfect weekend with an 8-2 win over Nevada and a 10-1 win over Western Michigan yesterday in the Fiesta Bowl tournament in Phoenix.

Against the Wolfpack, sophomore pitcher Alicia Hollowell (7-0) struck out seven and kept her ERA at 0.00, while Wolfe, a sophomore, earned her second win of the weekend and season in the six-inning win over the Broncos.

After going 1-for-5 on Saturday, senior catcher Mackenzie Vandergeest hit a two-run homer against Nevada.

Against Western Michigan, junior outfielder Candace Abrams had her second dinger in as many days. Sophomore outfielder Autumn Champion went 4-for-4.

Wolfe, who was pulled last weekend in her start against then-winless Mississippi after only 1.2 innings, no-hit Dayton in the UA's 19-0 win Saturday.

Junior third baseman Jackie Coburn went 2-for-2 with two home runs and six RBIs against the Flyers, and freshman Cortney Nix hit a pinch-hit homer in her second career at-bat. Lowe, Abrams and senior Wendy Allen also had home runs.

In the other Saturday game, Hollowell ripped the heart out of No. 10 Texas on Valentine's Day, striking out 15. The only hit Hollowell gave up was a bunt in the seventh.

Sophomore utility player Shelly Schultz hit a home run against the Longhorns, her fourth of the year.

On Friday, it was more of the same for the Wildcats, beating No. 18 Texas A&M 8-1 and Texas State 5-0. Hollowell struck out nine Aggies and Allen (2-0) struck out 11 Bobcats, improving her ERA to 0.58.
