In its first Pacific 10 Conference match of the season, the Wildcat women's tennis team went on the road to Oregon and lost 6-1.

Arizona (3-2, 0-1 Pac-10) lost all three doubles matches and won only one of six singles matches against the No. 42 Ducks (8-0, 2-0), who have yet to lose.

"It was a tough match," said assistant coach Petar Danolic. "Oregon is very good, despite their ranking."

The Wildcats took five matches to three sets but lost four of them, with only Kelly Perry winning her match, 5-7, 7-5, 6-0, over Jamie Marshall.

"It could have gone either way," Danolic said. "It was unfortunate."

With Diane Hollands feeling ill Maja Mlakar took over the No. 1 singles position. Mlakar, ranked No. 29, lost to No. 8 Daria Panova in a tough three-set match 5-7, 7-6, 5-7. Hollands, playing No. 2 singles, dropped her match to Dominika Dieskova 4-6, 6-4, 4-6.

"Diane was sick this weekend, so that didn't help, but she played hard," Danolic said.

Arizona will travel again next weekend to visit a pair of traditionally tough opponents in Southern California and UCLA.

"It's not going to get any easier from now," Danolic said. "Every player has to come out every day and play their best. We have to have all six players show up for every game. That's most important."
