A man reported a student assaulted him Wednesday after a confrontation at the Alumni Plaza, 1401 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

Police were driving around campus when the call came in, and one officer spotted a man with a video camera chasing two students, reports stated.

All three men stopped running when they heard police sirens, reports stated.

One of the students said he was watching a preacher on the UA Mall when he noticed a man videotaping him, reports stated.

The student said he did not want to be on film because he did not want to be associated in any way with the preacher, reports stated.

The student said he approached the man and asked him to stop videotaping, reports stated.

The student said he put his hand over the camera so he would not appear on film, reports stated.

The student said the man told him not to touch him or his camera and if he did, the man would have the student arrested, reports stated.

The student said he walked away and bumped into the man and said the camera must have hit his face, reports stated.

The student said he started running because he thought the man was weird and did not want to appear on film, reports stated.

The other student confirmed the student's story, reports stated.

The man said he was videotaping the preacher when the student approached him and put his hand and mouth on his camera, reports stated.

The man said the student purposely hit the camera into his face, reports stated.

Police watched the video tape and saw the student did approach the man and asked him to stop filming, reports stated.

Footage showed the student put his mouth and hand on the camera, reports stated.

After that, police could not make out the rest of the confrontation, reports stated.

The man said he did not want to press charges against the student.


Someone broke into an employee's car and stole personal items Wednesday at 1231 N. Cherry Ave., reports stated.

The employee parked his car at 2 p.m. and when he returned at 6:30 p.m., his car had been tampered with, reports stated.

The man said the headlights and stereo were turned on, reports stated.

Police found damage to the ignition, reports stated.

The man said someone stole credit cards, eyeglasses, a CatCard and money clip, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


Someone stole various equipment sometime before Wednesday morning from East Campbell Farms, 2001 E. Allen Road, reports stated.

An employee contacted police and said someone had cut a wire fence and stole aluminum-glazing bars, ridge caps and aluminum dampers, reports stated.

The employee said the stolen equipment was worth $100, reports stated.

The employee said the equipment was last accounted for in December 2004.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


Someone pried into a storage cabinet between Feb. 22 and Wednesday in the Art building, 1031 N. Olive Road, reports stated.

An employee contacted police because she noticed damage to the cabinet and some items were missing, reports stated.

The employee said yarn is the only thing stored in that cabinet, reports stated.

Another employee told police the room is usually locked unless there is class, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


Someone stole $200 worth of CDs out of a woman's car Wednesday in a Zone 1 lot, 425 N. Fremont Ave., reports stated.

The woman told police she parked her car around 9:45 a.m. and when she returned just after noon someone had broken into her car, reports stated.

The front passenger's window was shattered and CDs and a stereo were missing, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


Someone damaged a golf cart between Feb. 21 and Feb. 22 from the West Stadium, 540 N. Vine Ave., reports stated.

An employee contacted police and reported damage to the rear view mirror and the side rail, reports stated.

The golf cart was parked underneath the stadium, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


A student reported a hit-and-run Feb. 22 in Sixth Street Parking Garage, 1201 E. Sixth St., reports stated.

The student parked his car at 3 p.m. and returned at 4 p.m. to find it had been damaged, reports stated.

The car had scratch marks and white paint marks on the bumper and tire panel, reports stated.
