Radical views play vital role in market for ideas, expand intellectual discourse
"Fuck the Draft." On April 26, 1968, Paul Cohen was arrested in a Los Angeles courthouse for wearing a jacket bearing those three words. The government charged Cohen with disturbing the peace and later prosecuted him.
Cohen's arrest culminated in the Supreme Court decision California v. Cohen, in which the court opined that the First Amendment protected Cohen's right to express his opposition to the Vietnam War - regardless of the words through which he chose to convey it.

Editorial: Students should welcome better mass transit
Plan would provide housing options, link to downtown
It may not be the most efficient use of public funds, but if the federal government and the City of Tucson want to spend $150 million on an improved transportation system to link the UA with downtown, students should welcome the change.
The proposal, which could be operational in 2011, is currently being debated by the Tucson Department of Transportation and various community action groups. It could come in the form of improved SunTran bus service, an expansion of the historic trolley line or a rapid bus circulator.

Smock: Daily Wildcat confused my message
Just for the record, I did not say Jews are only good at making bagels or that Mexicans are only good for tacos, as the Wildcat repeatedly printed. Actually, what I said about both ethnic groups was complimentary. Someone asked me what I thought about Jews. I answered, "They are usually good capitalists, educated and rarely on welfare. They also gave us the bagel, and I like bagels." Later when asked about the bagel statement, I said that all ethnic groups have made their culinary contributions, for instance, "The Mexicans gave us the taco, but not only the taco, but also the burrito."
