CEO fashion show held to support tsunami efforts

photo

Last night the Eller Pre-Professional Student Association held a "CEO fashion show" to teach students how to dress properly for the workplace, featuring clothes from Macy's.

The show, which was created in part by business management sophomore Jenny Huynh, said the money raised from the $1 admission fee will be donated to victims of the tsunami in Southeast Asia.

Huynh said that she came up with the idea to benefit not only tsunami victims, but to entertain the community as well. [Read article]

photo

Another crazy weekend in college basketball saw six teams in the top 10 falter, leaving room for the Arizona men's basketball team (25-4, 15-3 Pacific 10 Conference) to sneak back into the top 10, currently situated at No. 8 in both the AP poll and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats were ranked No. 11 last week after a loss to Washington behind the Huskies, but an unexpected loss to Stanford by those Huskies sent them reeling back to No. 14. [Read article]

Right now, law school admission and rejection letters are coming back to applicants here at the UA and across the country. I cannot imagine a bigger gap between where you start out as a prospective law student and where you end up three years later. [Read article]

When Saul Williams puts beats to his poetry, the man becomes more than just an emcee or a modern troubadour.

He becomes what we all fantasize being: a rock star.

Having released his self-titled album in September, Williams returns to Tucson next Wednesday to give us all a taste of his latest poetic musings when he performs at City Limits.

Most reputably known as one of the most talented spoken word poets the world has ever seen, Williams is an actor, a rapper, a singer and a preacher. And he's actually good at them all, but doesn't take kindly to his music being categorized. [Read article]

Hookah offers safe and relaxing alternatives

College students are always looking for the newest, hippest and easiest trends to keep their bored little minds occupied. While smoking weed will always be fashionable, it's illegal too. As an alternative, locals, young and old, are getting together to smoke the legal way, with the help of the hookah.

The pastime has become even more popular in Tucson since Roger Smiley and his wife Sarah opened Smiley's Ultimate Hookah Lounge and Coffee last year. [Read article]
