Baseball plays OSU for Pac-10 lead
Off to its best conference start in school history, the No. 6 Arizona baseball team returns home for a first-place showdown this weekend.
The Wildcats (24-10, 8-1 Pacific 10 Conference) host No. 11 Oregon State (26-5, 5-1) in a battle of the Pac-10's top teams at Sancet Stadium tonight and Saturday evening at 7, and Sunday at noon.
Both teams enter the matchup hot.
Arizona swept consecutive road series at UCLA and Washington State after not having swept a road series in six years, while the Beavers took two out of three at No. 14 Stanford after sweeping California.

No. 2 softball visits Bruins, Huskies
Callista Balko is very familiar with one of Arizona softball's most heated rivalries.
She and the No. 2 Wildcats have packed their bags, ready to write the next chapter.
Arizona (31-4, 5-2 Pacific 10 Conference) plays Washington today at 1 p.m. in Seattle and meets two-time defending national champion No. 13 UCLA at 2 p.m. tomorrow and
1 p.m. Sunday in Los Angeles.
The Bruins (20-10, 1-4) lost their first four Pac-10 games before winning 2-1 over No. 3 California Sunday.

Stoops happy with progress heading into Spring Game
The Arizona football team holds its third weekend scrimmage of the spring tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. at Arizona Stadium.
The intersquad matchup is the final in the Wildcats' spring schedule before the annual Spring Game, to be played April 23.
Head coach Mike Stoops said the scrimmage would consist of about 100 set plays with full contact. A full officiating crew will oversee play.
Stoops said he is pleased with the team's progress thus far, particularly on the offensive end.

Men's tennis gears up to host in-state rival ASU
The No. 54 Arizona men's tennis team has one more match before it can worry about the NCAA Tournament.
Arizona (8-11, 1-5 Pacific 10 Conference) faces in-state rival No. 52 ASU (7-12, 1-5) at Robson Tennis Center tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
Both teams are on the bubble to enter the NCAA's field of 64.
Arizona already beat ASU in Tempe 5-2 earlier this year. A sweep of the Sun Devils could be just the thing to punch a ticket to the postseason.

Track team heads to prestigious Mt. SAC
The majority of the Arizona track teams travel to Walnut, Calif., today, where they compete in the Mt. SAC Relays through Sunday.
"We're in our invitational season, if you will," Arizona head coach Fred Harvey said. "All these meets during this time are meets where we want people to go for qualifying performances."
Of those heading to the elite Mt. SAC Relays is the women's 4x100 relay team, who missed qualifying for the NCAA West Region Championships this past weekend at the Texas Relays, because of dropping the baton for the third time in the past three races.

Women's Tennis: Wildcats finish regular season in Tempe
The No. 51 Arizona women's tennis team is looking to get a little revenge tomorrow.
Arizona (7-11, 1-6 Pacific 10 Conference) travels to Tempe to face No. 24 ASU (9-7, 3-3) tomorrow at 1 p.m.
ASU got the better of the Wildcats when the teams squared off in Tucson March 12.
This time, Arizona thinks the outcome is going to be different.
"Doubles (play) is what cost us last time," said Wildcat assistant coach Brian Ramirez. "They were more aggressive. They're one of the few teams that took it to us in doubles this year."

No. 7 Laxcats prepare to extinguish Sun Devils
Arizona men's club lacrosse attackman Jed Godsey arrived at practice earlier this week with a wide smile on his face.
"ASU this weekend, baby!" he yelled to his teammates.
The No. 7 Laxcats look to extend its 18-year win streak against the Sun Devils tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Murphy Stadium.
Arizona opened its most crucial week of the season Tuesday, after spending Sunday night in Ontario, Calif., and splitting up a grueling two-day road trip back to Tucson from California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo.

Men's golf gears up for postseason
The No. 21 Arizona men's golf team tees off today in their final regular-season tournament, as it competes in the 2005 U.S. Intercollegiate Championships at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif.
"We're playing this tournament as a tuneup," said Arizona assistant coach John Knauer. "I'm kind of anxious to see what's going to happen."
The Wildcats are coming off a third place finish (17-over 869) at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational April 8-9 in Tempe.
