Walk-on QBs, defense, backfield stars on display in Spring Game
SPRING GAME • TOMORROW, 1 p.m. • ARIZONA STADIUM
The foundation for the 2005 football season gets laid tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. in Arizona Stadium when Arizona takes the field for its annual Spring Game.
The intrasquad showdown is the last workout in Arizona's 25-day spring season.
"No one should be better equipped to stop a team than the team itself," head coach Mike Stoops said.
The Wildcat offense and defense will be on opposing sides, and the score will be kept with a modified system that rewards big plays on both ends of the ball.

Softball tries to rebound at home
Two matchups against ASU within the friendly confines of Hillenbrand Stadium may be the just what the No. 3 Arizona softball team needs after a rough weekend in Los Angeles.
The Wildcats were swept by UCLA last weekend, 5-4 on Sunday and 9-1 in six innings on Saturday.
Arizona assistant coach Larry Ray said the team's offense needs to step up if the Wildcats (31-6, 5-4 Pacific 10 Conference) are going to emerge from their struggles in the Pac-10, where they sit in fourth place.

While the majority of their teammates enjoy the weekend off, it's on to La Jolla, Calif., for the Arizona track teams' throwers.
The group looks to score big marks in the discus in the Triton Invitational, hosted by UC-San Diego, a meet known for its gusty obstacles.
The wind expected at the event "is the only reason we go out there," said Arizona head coach Fred Harvey. "There's no such thing as a wind-assisted throw, but (the wind) definitely affects (the throws). That's the reason they go there."
