The No. 51 Arizona men's tennis team lost all of its main draw matches in the first two rounds of the Pacific 10 Championships yesterday in Ojai, Calif., as three freshmen won in the first round of the invitational draw.

Bruno Alcala defeated Southern California's Bruce Aiken in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, as Claudio Christen beat Stanford's Eric McKean 6-4, 6-1.

Francois Vandermere, playing in place of senior Paul Warkentin, took down UCLA's Jeremy Drean, 7-6, 6-2.

No. 48 junior Roger Matalonga had to withdraw from his match against Stanford's No. 70 James Wan because of injury after being ahead in the match, 6-2, 0-3.

Senior Colin O'Grady fell to UCLA's No. 65 Kris Kwinta, 6-4, 6-4, and junior Daniel Andrus lost to ASU's No. 117 Andy Colombo, 7-5, 6-2.

In the second round, Christen took down ASU's Ryan McBride, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6. Vandermerwe was not as fortunate in the second round, as he lost to California's Tyler Brown, 6-3, 6-2.

Acala lost to Washington's Pete Scharler, 6-3, 6-3.

Singles and doubles competition continues today through Sunday.
