Vaulters fly into Pac-10s
Led by seniors Chris Chappell and Kevin Opalka, the Arizona men's pole-vaulters have the potential to send five athletes to Eugene, Ore., May 27-28 for the NCAA West Region Championships.
"What they're doing right now, in terms of qualifying for the regional meet, it could be pretty impressive," Arizona track and field head coach Fred Harvey said.
The unique event features athletes hurling themselves at heights as high as 16 feet on the men's side.

Spring Football Notes: Health a priority for football
The Arizona football team moves into its next phase of preparing for the 2005 season, as team workouts ended Saturday with the annual Spring Game at Arizona Stadium.
Stoops said the 15-practice spring schedule allowed by the NCAA was important for setting a solid foundation and outlining the squad's strengths and weaknesses before it returns to the field in June.
"It was good work. We still need to be more physical at the point of attack in some areas. That's what we'll concentrate on in the summer," he said.

Men's golf team sixth at Pac-10s
The Arizona men's golf team finished yesterday tied for sixth place at the Pacific 10 Conference Championships in Walla Walla, Wash.
The Wildcats shot a team total 366 and are currently 12-over par. Last season, Arizona won the tournament in comeback fashion and will have to do the same this year if it hopes to defend its crown.
Senior Nathan Lashley leads all Wildcats, tied at seventh with 1-over par yesterday. Senior Kipp Riehle is close behind tied at 17th. Riehle shot a 1-under par yesterday. Freshman Travis Esway rounds out the Wildcats' top three, working his way to a tie at 21st with a 5-over par.
