For those of you who went to the football game over the weekend, you know that we had an amazing, record-breaking turnout. It was fantastic to see the student body come together with such enthusiasm, excitement and school spirit, and I can't wait to see continued support like this for our team throughout the season.

Excitement, however, sometimes comes with negative side effects. We must maintain an enjoyable and safe environment for all attendees - the students, community and employees - even in the face of excitement. Because of the large number of student fans and the high energy of the crowd on Saturday night, a few incidents occurred that need to be addressed.

To prevent any future incidences and to maintain the true integrity of the Zona Zoo (one of spirit and camaraderie), we'd like to attend to a few concerns:

Please note that the Zona Zoo Section (1-10) is a section for our Wildcat students. While we can accommodate all of the students who have already purchased their Zona Zoo passes, there are not enough seats for their guests. Because of this high demand from our students, we had to reform policy this year and eliminate guest tickets from the student section.

In order to ensure that overcrowding does not occur, non-Zona Zoo members (including both student guests and community members) will no longer be admitted into the Zona Zoo student section. However, Zona Zoo members are welcome to exchange their pass for a set of season tickets in order to sit next to their guests in the upper level sections. In addition, if you felt that the Zona Zoo was a little too crazy for you and do not wish to sit in the Zona Zoo section again, you have the option to exchange your pass for an assigned seat in the upper level.

Another concern from the weekend was that some students were denied admission to the game when they arrived after kickoff because the student section was too full. Luckily, gates open 1 1/2 hours prior to kickoff, so you can avoid this problem by arriving nice and early. And if you're planning on sitting at the 50-yard line, you should definitely plan on getting there early. Also, don't forget to take advantage of the fact that there are six student entrances (Gates 2-7), so if you're having trouble getting in one, you can walk down and try another.

Please note that if you have to show up late and are denied admission because the student section has reached capacity, you now have the option to go back to the McKale Ticket Office and exchange your ticket for an upper-level seat (subject to availability).

Just a heads-up: The University of Arizona Police Department has a zero-tolerance policy for underage drinking and will be actively and randomly checking identification for underage drinking this weekend on the UA Mall during tailgating. Arizona Athletics tailgating policy states: "No drinking games, hard liquor or binge drinking." And yes, they do consider beer pong a drinking game, so leave your tables at home. For those of you who are over 21, please drink responsibly because students who appear intoxicated will be removed from the stadium.

We work really hard and very closely with Arizona Athletics to ensure that students have every opportunity to attend our Wildcat games and have a safe and fun experience. We're all part of the same Wildcat family, so let's remember to treat each other with respect.

Our football team needs our support this weekend, so let's all get out there together and show our school spirit. We look forward to seeing you there, so grab your Zona Zoo shirt and don't forget to bear down!
