Three underage students were caught with alcohol early Tuesday morning after the student who was driving was pulled over for speeding at East Speedway Boulevard and North Mountain Avenue, reports stated.

Police pulled the student, who was driving a white Jeep Cherokee, over around 2 a.m. The student said he was in a hurry to get back to his home.

Police noticed there were two empty boxes of Bud Light behind the driver's seat. Police asked the three students if the beer was all gone and the driver said, "Yes, it is and there isn't any in here," reports stated.

All three students admitted to being under 21. Police noticed a blue backpack in front of the passenger seat and asked the passenger if it was his.

The passenger said, "No, uh, I don't know who it belongs to, it was probably already in here when I got in."

Police asked the driver and the student in the backseat if it was their backpack and they both said no.

Police were about to look at the backpack to find out who the owner was, when the driver said, "Well, I guess it's mine since it's in my truck," reports stated.

Police asked the three students to step out of the car, and the driver told police they could search the Jeep.

Police found three bottles of liquor in the backpack. The driver said the liquor belonged to him and the passenger.

The driver was cited for underage possession of alcohol and released.
