Injuries leave Wildcats' weekend lineup in the air

As if the Arizona men's basketball team wasn't already feeling the hangover from a two-loss road trip, the headaches will seemingly continue as the Wildcats will be without at least one guard for tomorrow's game against Stanford.

Arizona men's basketball head coach Lute Olson said yesterday that freshman guard J.P. Prince will be out against Stanford, while sophomore guard Jawann McClellan's status is questionable.

Both suffered injuries during last week's Oregon trip, which marked McClellan's return to action from academic ineligibility.

Olson said Prince's X-rays showed that he could return soon.

"He is probably 50-50 for Saturday (against California)," Olson said.

Olson said there is good news about Prince's right foot, which he hurt during Thursday's game at Oregon State, causing him to miss Saturday's contest at Oregon.

"There was a fracture that showed up on the X-ray, but it is an old fracture that occurred when he was in high school," Olson said. "The feeling initially by the people that looked at the X-ray up north was that it looked like a current injury, and if that was the case it was going to be a while."

McClellan started in just his second game of the season against Oregon State and is averaging four points per game, but his season could be delayed once again pending the results of an MRI.

"Jawann fell heavily on his wrist and didn't work out (Monday)," Olson said. "We had an MRI but will not get the results of that until after (yesterday's) practice."
