Two students were cited for underage drinking and a third was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia on Jan. 21 after police observed them sitting in a vehicle parked in the Coronado Residence Hall parking lot, 822 E. Fifth St., reports stated.

While patrolling the area at 11:52 p.m., police noticed several subjects in a parked vehicle with the interior light on. Upon seeing the approaching patrol car, all of the passengers reached for the light and turned it off, reports stated.

The officer asked if anyone in the vehicle had been drinking and was told no, reports stated.

The driver had an odor of intoxicants coming from his mouth, reports stated.

After asking the driver if he could search the vehicle, the officer was shown the trunk of the vehicle, where he did not observe any alcohol, reports stated.

The other passengers exited the vehicle and the officer continued his search of the vehicle, where he discovered an unopened 40 oz. bottle of malt liquor under the front passenger seat, reports stated.

When the officer removed the bottle he found a multicolored glass pipe with burnt residue in it that smelled like marijuana, reports stated.

The officer asked the front passenger if he had been drinking and was told yes, reports stated. The front passenger said the alcohol was his, but he didn't know anything about the marijuana pipe.

The driver also admitted to drinking and also denied any knowledge of the marijuana pipe, reports stated.

The officer asked if he could search the driver and was told yes, reports stated.

The officer found a plastic juice bottle stuck in the driver's waistband near the small of his back, reports stated. The driver told the officer it was the alcohol he had been drinking earlier.

The female passenger denied drinking and knowing anything about the marijuana pipe, reports stated. The officer did not detect alcohol on her breath.

The driver and the front passenger denied the pipe was his, reports stated.

When asked who the pipe belonged to, the front passenger told the driver the female passenger would tell the officer it was her pipe, reports stated.

The officer asked the female passenger if she had something to tell him and she said the marijuana pipe belonged to her, reports stated.

The driver and passengers were cited and released, reports stated.

The alcohol was poured out and the pipe was placed into evidence, reports stated.

A student was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia Sunday at 10:51 p.m. after police observed two males smoking a lighted object and passing it to each other, reports stated.

Police approached the students, who were walking North on North Tyndall Avenue and could smell a strong odor of marijuana in the air, reports stated.

The officer stopped the students near East Seventh Street and asked if he could talk to them, reports stated.

The officer observed both students had red, watery eyes and could smell marijuana on their clothing, reports stated.

The student told the officer they had been smoking marijuana earlier, but did not have any more in their possession, reports stated. He told the officer they had had a marijuana cigarette, but they had smoked it all up.

The officer asked the student if he had any marijuana in his room and the student said, "No, but I have a grinder I use for marijuana," reports stated.

The student volunteered to escort the officer to his room in the Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., reports stated.

The officer viewed rolling papers in the student's dorm and asked him what he used them for, reports stated. The student said mostly for marijuana cigarettes.

The officer confiscated the grinder and the papers.

The student was cited and released and the other student was allowed to leave the area without any criminal charges, reports stated.

A student was arrested for possession of narcotics on Jan. 21 after a resident assistant told police he had found a female in the kitchen area who had a strong odor of marijuana coming from her clothes, reports stated.

Police responded to Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall, 610 N. Highland Ave., and met with the RA, who told police the female would not answer him when he attempted to find out who she was.

Police were told the female was still in the kitchen area with another RA.

Upon entering the kitchen area, police observed a female crying and trying to exit the area, reports stated.

Police asked "who was smoking marijuana in here?" The female said, "I was smoking with friends on University (Boulevard), but not here. I'm not that stupid," reports stated.

The female told police, "I'm fucked. I know I fucked up," reports stated.

Police asked the female if she had anything they should know about and she told them she might have something in her jacket, reports stated.

The female took her jacket and produced a baggie with a small amount of marijuana in it and two lighters, reports stated.

The student was cited and released to the RA, reports stated.

The marijuana and lighters were placed into evidence, reports stated.
