The UA men's golf team finished in a tie for 12th place yesterday at The Preview by Ping & Golfweek in Owings Mills, Md.
Wildcat sophomore Nathan Tyler was the only Arizona golfer to shoot even par in yesterday's final round as the Wildcats carded a 15-over-par 295 en route to finishing plus-44 for the tournament.
Arizona finished in a tie for 12th place in the 15-team tournament with California and UCLA. Oklahoma State won the event at Caves Valley Golf Course, finishing 8-over par overall. Georgia Tech finished four shots back, while Georgia, Texas and Florida rounded out the top five places.
Tyler's final round 74 on the par-70 course brought him to a tie for 27th place. Oklahoma State's Pablo Martin captured individual medalist honors at 4-under-par for the tournament.
Also competing for the Wildcats was sophomore Henry Liaw, who tied for 34th place at 10-over; senior Nathan Lashley, who tied for 36th place at 11-over; sophomore Josh Esler, who tied for 50th place at 14-over; and sophomore Mark Lamb, who tied for 66th place at 23-over.
Lashley's even par-70 in yesterday's final round was just Arizona's third round at par or better in 30 individual rounds played this season.
Arizona will be in action again Oct. 1, at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M.
