'Studied' Coulter should be heard

Ann Coulter is one of a kind. She is like a voice in the wilderness to be listened to because there are few voices like hers to be heard these days. She is studied, learned and has been through all the college courses most of us have not even considered or attempted. She has the background, the knowledge, the experience, the general know-how to speak her mind. Folks who seem to be against her way of thinking need to back off just a bit, and re-listen to what she says, because most of her words are right on the truth if one will just listen - and reason. Just be open to the truth - lay waste to some things that may have been wrongly influencing your thinking in the past. Just be open-minded and give change a chance.

Get this: if you are over 45 or 50 years old by now, and you have not yet decided to have converted to being conservative in your way of thinking, then you are still missing the boat! Get with it! Read about it! Whatever! Change before it's too late! You won't be sorry. Listen to your conservative friends, the ones you didn't want to hear out before. Maybe now's the time. Go for it. What do you have to lose? You'll see what I mean if you give it a chance. Enjoy your new life as a conservative Republican. It can be wonderful. Go for it and see. Nothing to lose.

Republicans protest, Democrats lob pies

The Oct. 12 Daily Wildcat featured a quite ironic statement in the Mailbag. After a few protesting College Republicans were escorted out of McKale Center during Michael Moore's speech, Madeline Froning, a political science senior, had an intriguing message to say: "I thought (the Republicans) were immature and I don't think Democrats would go to their speakers and do that."

Well Madeline, it turns out you were right: Democrats don't do that, they throw pies instead. Instead of simply protesting with freedom of speech, two morons decided to use freedom of "peach," in the form of a peach cobbler pie, or whatever kind it actually was, missing Ann Coulter twice, from no more than three feet away.

While the Democrats did not prove their ability to peacefully protest, they did prove one indisputable fact: All Democrats throw like girly-men. Jim Brody

Kerry not the choice for terrorists

I am writing in response to Michael Badowski's ridiculous letter in Friday's Mailbag. Mr. Badowski is clearly stating that the terrorists would prefer it if John Kerry were president.

Such a statement is so far off-balance that it's really hard to decide if he's serious, or perhaps making fun of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said, "International terrorism has at its goal to prevent the election of President Bush to a second term. If they achieve that goal, then that will give international terrorism a new impulse and extra power."

I find the fact that people buy into that statement nothing more than sheer stupidity. If the terrorists' main goal was to prevent the election of President Bush, one must wonder why they attacked the World Trade Center first in 1993?

Or what about the bombing of the USS Cole? Did they think that President Bush was ON the USS Cole? Were they pre-emptively preventing him from becoming president? Or perhaps the terrorists could care less who's president because at the end of they day they hate America, no matter who is running it.

It seems to me that if I were a terrorist, I'd want President Bush in power.

After all, it was on his watch that America was attacked for the first time since 1941.

Articles neglected to cover Coulter's bile

Between the sugarcoated article on Ann Coulter's speech, the wasted article on the protesters and the drivel that composes most of the articles on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (not including Giorgio Torrieri's article, which I applauded) I went from optimistic and jovial to nauseated and depressed in a matter of minutes.

Neither the article on Ann Coulter nor the one on the protesters highlighted any of the substance that makes up Ann Coulter's fascist and extremely bigoted rhetoric. Calling her conservative is like calling Hitler misguided - it simply doesn't even scratch the surface of her true nature.

To prove my point, here's a couple of Ann's gems: "Anorexics never have boyfriends. ... That's one way to know you don't have anorexia, if you have a boyfriend," "I think (women) should be armed but should not (be allowed to) vote," and who could forget "we should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."

And as for Ari Lerner's enlightened history of Israel's role in conflicts with the Middle East, it read like a children's book penned by Ariel Sharon. When I read that Israel has been nothing but an innocent bystander defending their last shred of dignity against their wicked and predatory Arab neighbors, it made me realize just how simple and clear-cut everything is.

It's like Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. All the hunter (a.k.a. the United States) has to do is go nuke all those evil Muslims and everyone else can live happily ever after in the black-and-white fairy tale land of gumdrops and lollipops! This kind of grossly biased historical distortion is unfortunately all too typical and represents the fictionalized nature of such people's "knowledge" of international affairs and politics.

Liberal weather delayed Coulter

Why did it rain Thursday, delaying Ann Coulter's plane? The answer is obvious: liberal conspiracy.

It's true. A team of left-wing meteorologists from the UA created this weather system in order to detain Ann Coulter in Los Angeles. I guess they are plain afraid of a woman who tells it like it is.

Now the ASUA owes the college Republicans two more speakers. Why not? Michael Moore weighs as much as two people. Let's bring Bill O'Reilly in next so he can explain the liberal conspiracy behind his current lawsuit. Then again, the liberals will probably find a way to delay his plane too.

Here's the best idea: Send Johnny Republican out to Los Angeles to pick up Ann Coulter in his Beamer, fuel courtesy of his daddy's gas card. Just watch those hands, Johnny, we don't need any more lawsuits.

Pie pompous people for greater good

I am delighted at the actions of these two men who have gotten up off their butts and practiced some "direct action" for their beliefs. They will undoubtedly be hailed as heroes from coast to coast for finally giving Ann Coulter what she deserves. There will be many Republicans out there who will thrash these "lefties" for their use of so-called violence to get their point across.

But let me ask you readers a few questions concerning violent pies: How many of you out there have ever been hurt by a pie? Is a pie inherently evil? Did Ann go to the hospital to get her pie wounds checked out? Maybe we should put pies on the terrorist watch list in case they are up to something bigger, in which case we will have to elevate the terror alert to "Who Gives A Rat's Ass?"

Let's just take Thursday's speech and see some of the reasons Ann herself is giving us that made it reasonable that she should get a pie in the face.

She spoke about the war in Iraq and said, "There is a distinct connection between Iraq and Osama bin Laden, despite what Democrats have said."

The fact is, Osama is a Shiite and Iraq (Saddam) was a Sunni for those of you who have never paid any attention. These were and still are rival factions. Why would Osama support Saddam? Osama considers Saddam an "infidel" just like the rest of the western world.

She said, "Democrats argue that George W. Bush went to war for oil."

It is not only the Democrats who are arguing that George Bush went to war for oil, it is also millions, dare I say close to a billion, people around the globe who are speaking out and know that this war is about oil, a foothold in the Middle East, and a flexing of our military might. Democrats argue that it is for oil because it is true, and so does the rest of the world.

If all of the sudden there was to be a guerilla war set in the middle of an Amazon cattle ranching area and you happened to stop by a McDonald's and your burger cost double what it did two years ago, would you see a connection?

Ann Coulter deserved the pie in the face, and I hope it will not be her last. The purpose of pieing an individual is to bring them back down off their high horse and back to reality. "Pie Pompous People" is the official motto of people who believe pie philosophy. Look into it sometime - it's not just about pieing people on the right, it's about everyone being on the same playing field.
