ASUA to lure big acts to campus

ASUA will bring a high-profile comedian and major musical talent to campus this semester, a sharp contrast from the many political figures last semester.

Robin Williams and Dave Chappelle are the top two choices Associated Students of the University of Arizona leaders are pursuing to perform in a comedy show in February or March.

Here are the latest statistics from the tsunami disaster zone in Asia:

  • At least 150,000 people killed.

  • 500,000 people injured.

  • 50,000 children killed

  • 5 million people left homeless.

If that isn't enough to convince you to give money to the relief effort, maybe this will.

If every student at the UA were to donate just $5 to the relief effort, that would generate more than $185,000.

That would be enough money for 115 homes or 1,057 tents. [Read article]

If traveling were a sport, James G. Davis would probably have a couple of medals by now. Fortunately for the artist, his artwork has brought him most of his acclaim, particularly in the Southern Arizona art community.

To honor such contributions, the UA Museum of Art is featuring Davis’ work in the exhibit “James G. Davis: Paintings and Works on Paper, 1988-2004.” Read article]
