Women's Soccer: Tobias named nat'l Coach of Year
Players on the Arizona women's soccer team pulled in plenty of awards for their record-breaking 2004 season, but this time, it was the coach's turn.
UA Head coach Dan Tobias was named National Coach of the Year by Soccer America magazine in just his second year with the program.
"The credit goes to my players and assistants," Tobias said.
"It's a great honor for coach Tobias and he certainly deserves it," UA Athletic Director Jim Livengood said in a press release. "The job the Wildcat soccer team did in 2004 was tremendous and his great leadership was instrumental."

Men's Hoops: To live and die with Salim
Cats' success this season falls squarely on Stoudamire's shoulders
There are two sides to Arizona basketball senior guard Salim Stoudamire, and both can be seen in that quick moment after his shot either splashes through the net or clangs off the rim.
There's the satisfied look when he makes a shot - the look of "I did what I'm supposed to do."
On the opposite side, there's the other face he's sometimes better known for, the disgusted look when his left-handed jumper veers away from the hoop and hits metal.

Commentary: No student section, no problem in McKale
In the battle long waged by UA students (past but mostly present) for the reintroduction of a student section along the McKale Center's floor, the main argument amounts to this: "Everyone else has one. Why don't we?"
Indeed - why doesn't Arizona have a student section? Its men's basketball team has been the toast of the Pacific 10 Conference since the 1987-1988 season, the year McKale's last student section was eliminated. Yet it remains the only team in the conference to have no sort of organized student force tracing the action on the court.

Men's Golf: UA trails BYU in only spring home tourney, 2 Cats in top 3
The No. 18 Arizona men's golf teams grabbed two of the first three places at the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate yesterday before play was suspended due to darkness.
The junior varsity Wildcats (283) lead the varsity squad (284), while both teams trail Brigham Young (280) at Arizona National Golf Club.
Frost on the course early yesterday morning caused almost a 90-minute delay and will force teams to finish round two today.

Men's Hoops: Cats fall 3 spots in AP poll after loss to WSU
The UA men's basketball team (17-4, 7-2 Pacific 10 Conference) fell three spots in this week's Associated Press poll in a tie with Oklahoma for the No. 14 spot. Arizona's 70-63 loss at the hands of an unranked Washington State team caused the Wildcats' fall in the rankings.
Washington dropped as well after losing to 91-82 to the Wildcats Thursday, but still remain one spot ahead of the UA at No. 13. The Huskies and the Wildcats were No. 10 and No. 11, respectively, last week.
