The No. 18 Arizona men's golf teams grabbed two of the first three places at the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate yesterday before play was suspended due to darkness.

The junior varsity Wildcats (283) lead the varsity squad (284), while both teams trail Brigham Young (280) at Arizona National Golf Club.

Frost on the course early yesterday morning caused almost a 90-minute delay and will force teams to finish round two today.

Yesterday's round was scheduled to contain 36 holes but because of the late start and darkness right before 6 p.m., some schools will be forced to conclude round two today and complete round three.

Arizona freshman Tyler Neal shot a career-best 69 (-3) in leading the

JV team while senior Nick Juszczak shot a season-best 70 (-2). Both finished the day in the top 10 individually.

Sophomore Brian Prouty and freshman Trey Denton added to the JV's cause shooting a par of 72s.

Arizona's varsity squad was led by senior Nathan Lashley and sophomores Henry Liaw, Josh Esler and Mark Lamb, each finishing one-under (71).

Each team score is taken by adding the squad's top-four individual rounds.

Texas A&M (284) and Tulsa round out the top-5 in the team competition.

BYU's Todd Miller, Jake Ellison and Greg Machtaler each recorded totals of two-under or better to lead to Cougars to the three-stroke team lead and take up three of the top-six individual spots on the leaderboard.

The PING-Arizona Intercollegiate is the Wildcats' lone home meet of the spring season, hosting 16 teams, 12 of which competed in last year's NCAA Regionals. Four current top-25 teams are a part of the field.

The 54-hole tournament is scheduled to resume play this morning.
