Softball suffers first loss
The No. 2-ranked UA softball team lost for the first time this season Friday, but bounced back to win its next three games to take home the Texas Softball Tournament title. The Wildcats (13-1) left Austin, Texas, after defeating No. 7 Texas 5-0 yesterday. But before capturing the title, the Wildcats fell to Texas Friday night 1-0.
In the championship game, the Wildcats' runs were scored by sophomore outfielders Nicole Giordano (2) and Lauren Bauer, junior second baseman Katie Swan and freshman first baseman Lindsay Robinson. Sophomore Becky Lemke pitched for the win, bringing her record to 7-1.
The Wildcats started off the tournament with a win Friday against UT-San Antonio 7-0, followed by the Texas loss. Saturday saw two victories for the Wildcats, 8-0 over Alabama and 4-2 over UTSA.
