ASUA candidates to present platforms

By Maya Schechter

Arizona Daily Wildcat

Tomorrow night's ASUA candidate forum will be the first chance for everyone running for student government positions to present their platforms in a formal atmosphere.

The forum will be held in the Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall lobby at 6:30 p.m., and will include a question and answer session for UA students to learn more about the candidates.

During the first part of the forum, the candidates will each have an allotted amount of time to present their ideas. Students running for the position of president, executive vice president or administrative vice president will each have two minutes to speak, while those running for the senate will have one minute.

"It's the time where they can talk about their issues and what they're all about," said Associated Students President Ben Graff.

Afterward, any student in the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions directed at one or all the candidates running for a specific position.

"It's very important to get as many students as possible there - it will be worth it for them to attend," Graff said.

Joe Rodgers, ASUA elections commissioner, said the candidates have been doing a good job campaigning and have not broken any of the elections rules.

"Especially in the position of senator, where many of the candidates are freshmen, everyone is doing a great job and I am really proud of them," he said.
