The time has come for the dreaded midterm, when UA students unwrap their textbooks and begin a hearty diet of caffeine. If you are looking for a more effective and healthy way to ace that exam, stop on by Bear Down Gym at 1 p.m. for the Learning Strategies Workshop. Today's lesson will focus on avoiding distractions, common mistakes and stress associated with test taking. The class is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Karen Gutierrez at 621-4548.

Has your roommate's recent change in attitude confirmed your suspicions that she is from another planet? If strange noises in the middle of the night have you questioning creation and mankind, check out tonight's Steward Observatory's Public Evening Series on "Implications for the Origin and Evolution of Life on Earth." Following each lecture, there will be opportunities to view the night sky through the observatory's 21-inch telescope. For more information, please call Thomas Fleming at 621-5049.

Monday is famous for being a little hazy in most UA students' minds. Get back on track with the Writing Skills Improvement Program, held weekly at 5 p.m. Today's discussion will focus on "Approaching a Text-in-Context Essay." Kendra Gaines, program instructor, will focus on techniques commonly used to help student analyze and organize their essay arguments. If you have any further questions, contact Donna Rabuck at 621-5849.

With the recent U.S. and British airstrikes overseas, the need for students to understand the economic dilemmas abroad increases daily. The Center for Middle Eastern Studies continues their mission to educate students with today's 3 p.m. lecture, "Jordanian Exceptionalism: An Analysis of State-Religion Relationships in Egypt, Iran, Jordan and Syria." The lecture will be led by sociology professor and traveling speaker, Mansoor Moaddel. If you have any further questions, please contact Anne Bennett at 621-8079.

Do you find that every time you go to the grocery store the price of Ramen has changed? If you don't understand why the food conspirators insist on fluctuating the prices of the college student's staples, check out today's 3 p.m. lecture on the "Five Forces in the Network Economy." The lecture will take place in the Swede Johnson building, Room 301/303. If you have any further questions, please call Sharon Farmer at 626-7418.

Add a little music to your evening with tonight's faculty performance in Crowder Hall. The UA School of Music's teachers and mentors will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. with their baritones and saxophones in hand. Tickets can be purchased for $4 to $10 through the Fine Arts Complex by calling them at 621-2998.
