New Found Glory Review

New Found Glory

A New Found Glory

(Drive Thru Records)

Grade: A

A New Found Glory's self-titled latest release is a success - at least in a melodramatic, screaming-out-to-the-world-for-help, peppy, catchy kind of way.

The group released an EP of film soundtrack cover songs earlier this year, but it was not enough to quench the auditory appetite of its devoted fans. They have been longing for a full-length CD since Nothing Gold Can Stay, the group's debut record released a year ago.

Luckily for these fans, New Found Glory delivers. The first track off the album, "Better Off Dead," is more of the same Emo/Punk guitar riffs and harmonic choruses that NFG fans have come to love.

Many other songs hit home, like the ever-so-emotional "Eyesore" and "Dressed to Kill," in which lead singer Jordan Pundik laments, "I can't dream anymore since you left/ I miss you singing me to sleep/ I can't wake anymore in your arms."

The band has also added a different version of "Hit Or Miss," the first track off Nothing Gold Can Stay. It is a little lighter, but still just as good.

The majority of these songs are aimed at the female gender - the members of NFG seem to enjoy relating their woes of heartache and girl trouble. In "All About Her ,"Pundik sings, "Cause it's the things she does that make me sing about her."

Some fans can relate to these feelings, others will simply be drawn in by the soothing melodies.

Fans of bands like The Get Up Kids, Saves The Day and Midtown should add this to their collection, and it is a must-buy for anyone who already owns the first two NFG records.
