Homecoming--Calendar of Events

Friday, November 10

  • Homecoming Registration: Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Memorial Student Union lobby and between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Arizona Ballroom.

  • 11th Annual Emeritus luncheon: Between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Student Union Senior Ballroom. Members of the 1950 classes and prior, family and guests can attend the luncheon. $15 per person.

  • Alumni Awards Reception: Between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Marriott University Park Hotel, 880 E. Second St. Alumni and non-alumni will receive awards and recognition for their contributions to community and to the UA campus.

  • Engineering and Mines: Breakfast between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. at Bear Down Gym. Alumni Party between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Gentle Ben's Brewing Company. Contact Elsa Myers at 621-6044 for more information.

  • Tear Down Bash: The last reunion celebrations in the Memorial Student Union ever. Mexican buffet dinner in the Arizona Ballroom between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. with the UA student band, Pride of Arizona. $15 per person. The reunion classes of 1960 and 1975 will meet at a check-in table in front of Heritage Hall and will be tables reserved for 25 year and 40 year alumni reunions.

  • Bonfire and Pep Rally: The Homecoming king and queen crownings after 8 p.m. on the west side of Old Main. Cheerleaders, Wilbur and Wilma Wildcat and UA Football Coach Dick Tomey will be there, too!

  • Social and Behavioral Sciences: Homecoming reception at 5 p.m with a lecture by UA history professor Sarah Deutsch, "Dreams of Inclusion: Myths and Realities of Western Frontier," in the Plaza Hotel Ball Room, 1900 E. Speedway Blvd.

  • Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium: Science exhibits, multimedia planetarium shows, a public observatory, and science store with 15 percent discount on all items. Call 621-STAR for further information.

Saturday, November 11

  • Alumni Band Breakfast: At 7 a.m. in the Memorial Student Union Arizona Ballroom, $10 per person.

  • Agriculture and Life Sciences: Annual Dean's Burrito Breakfast and Auction from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

  • College of Humanities: Continental breakfast at 9 a.m. at the Poetry Center, 1216 N. Cherry Ave., to celebrate 40th anniversary of the center.

  • Nursing: College of Nursing Homecoming Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Marriott University Park Hotel. $20 per person.

  • Homecoming Parade: Starts at 3:30 p.m. from the Main Gate Garage, 888 N. Euclid Ave., to Old Main.

  • Tents on the Mall for Student Showcase: Between noon and 4 p.m. at the UA Mall. More than 100 undergraduate and graduate students will be displaying their research projects. Refreshments and beverages will be provided.

  • Law: Barbecue between noon and 2 p.m. at the James E. Rogers Law Center, 1201 E. Speedway Blvd.

  • Business and Public Administration: Between noon and 2 p.m. at McClelland Hall, 1130 E. Helen St. Open House-Virtual Classroom.

  • Medical Education: Between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the University Medical Center, an update lecture on the Clinical Management of Diabetes Mellitus: Intensive Therapy for type one and type two diabetes.

  • Football game: UA Wildcats vs. Oregon State Beavers at 8:15 p.m. at the Arizona Stadium. For tickets call 1-800-452-CATS or 621-CATS.

Sunday, November 12

  • Golden Circle Luncheon: Between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Arizona Inn, 2200 E. Elm St., education alumni will be meeting for a lunch, by invitation only.
