KINGMAN, Ariz. - An Arizona man entered a plea agreement yesterday in an alleged plot to free a Mohave County Jail inmate by killing a guard.
Dennis Schilinski, 28, of Golden Shores, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit escape and guilty to theft.
The agreement imposes prison terms of a six years for the escape charge and one year for the theft charge. It's up to a judge to decide whether to order concurrent or consecutive sentences.
Four others await trial in the escape plot foiled by authorities in June. An arrest warrant has been issued for another co-defendant who disappeared after entering a testimonial plea agreement.
Authorities said Schilinski and the others allegedly intended to free David S. Goldberg, 41, by killing the guard who would be escorting Goldberg to a court change-of-plea hearing.
A tip allowed authorities to stake out the area and arrest the six people alleged to have been involved.
Goldberg subsequently pleaded guilty to manufacturing methamphetamine and was sentenced to seven years in prison.
