If you can make it through the maze of chain link fence to the Mall, various UA clubs and organizations have set up booths to attract your interests. From 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. today and tomorrow, the Student Recreation Center will host an Outdoor Adventures Promotional Booth on the Mall. Various outdoor activity equipment will be displayed, and there will be information on the sponsored adventures. If you're one of those people who like this town for the great hiking, biking, mountain climbing and whatever else you do outdoors besides driving a car, stop by the booth. If you can't get to it, Scott Clark at 621-8233 has all the info you'll need.

Maybe your favorite Dali print, the one with the melting clocks (well, the only one you know), got torn down from your wall during that crazy end of semester party you through back in December. Maybe while you were back at home, your sister snagged that Van Gogh print that was going to go over your bed by the window this semester. Well, don't worry. Your walls needn't be bare but for the calendar your old, old best friend gave you for Christmas. Today, and today only, on the Mall, there is art show and sale. It runs from 8 in the morning til 5 this evening, so there's little excuse not to stop by and peruse the collection. Call 319-9857 and ask for Kristina if you have any questions.

If you're up by UMC around noon today, stop into the DuVal Auditorium for a flamenco guitar and dance performance. The midday revelry is brought to you by the Arizona Health Science Center's ongoing Center Stage monthly concert series. These people know what's good for you, and apparently it's flamenco music and guitar, so come on over and take a listen. Besides, you can bring your lunch and parking's free. For more info call 626-7301 or visit AHSC's Web site at www.ahsc.arizona.edu/opa. Can you already hear the clickity, clickity, click, click of the castanets transporting you away from the stress of the first day of school?

Happy day, there's lots of art for everyone to enjoy! Not only is there an art show on the Mall, but there are also two exhibitions in the Fine Arts Complex. One of them, "Cristina Cardenas: A Flor de Piel," is on display in the Jospeh Gross Gallery. The show is open to the public today from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., indeed the gallery and the show are open Monday through Friday during those hours. The Cardenas exhibition runs through Feb.15, so you have plenty of time and no excuse not to check it out. Any questions? Call 626-4215 for more info.

So long as you're in the Fine Arts Complex, you may as well stroll on over to the Lionel Rombach Gallery for its "Time, Place and Relationships" exhibition. This show also runs from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. Monday through Friday until Feb. 15, so you can take some time, maybe visit both shows and make an Arts Day out of it! Finally, you'll know what they're talking about on the arts page when they're not running a music or movie review. For more info call 626-4215 or visit /www.arts.arizona.edu/galleries.

That Arizona Health Sciences Center sure has a lot of things for us to do. It's also sponsoring a lecture today by Chelsea Chesen on monoamine oxidase inhibitors antidepressents in layperson's terms. Her talk, entitled "Lions and Tigers and MAOIs, Oh My! The real scoop on Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors," starts at 4 this afternoon and runs until 5:30. Lions on drugs? Sounds exciting! Well, there's not likely to be any actual lions, but check it out anyway. The talk will take place in the AHSC, Room 5403. Call 626-6336, just in case you want to check about the tigers.
